When we were young, we wanted desperately to fit in, or to be part of a group. Although some of us have siblings, this does not mean that we automatically have people to play with. For instance, I had three sisters. Due to our age difference, we never clicked until years later. Since I didn't have people to talk to at home, I looked to my school friends in search for that camaraderie. My status as the daughter of a teacher meant that my friends were few and far between.

When I came to America, I was pleasantly surprised to find many friends in school. As the years progressed, the distance between my sisters and I diminished as well.
