Its not personal

I began working on the Yes We All Can project, a community project to help the job seekers. What I am pleasantly surprised by is how much people are willing to help, how afraid I am of rejections, and how I take things personally. Here's what I mean. I sent the project invitation email to ~ 25 people, and did not hear back from over 60% of the people.

I asked my coach what to do, and she suggested that I call and ask the people. Trust me, I procrastinated as much as I can, although I am calling my friends as opposed to strangers. That's when I realized that I am still deathly scared of rejections. How I cope with this is that I don't ask for help. If I don't ask, then there's no rejection. However, I then make the non-responsiveness an attack on me personally. After calling five friends, I found out that the non-responsiveness had nothing to do with me, really. But that's what I thought.

I am happy to report that I contacted almost everyone on my email list regarding the project participation. Whew. That, was some hard work. And we are just getting started.
