You see, my mother in law has been sending me clothes for years. Unfortunately, they were not my style nor size. Last year, I got into watching Indian movies, and was in love with the fab attire. I was emailing my future sister in law about it, and she was like, email me the pix you like, and we will get it for you.
I was like, what are you talking about. You see, I never had clothes tailor made for me. I was definitely not expecting that from my future in laws. Not to mention that I was made fun of last time when I asked for something, but that's another story. They were quite insistent, and explained that as part of the bride's gift, I was supposed to get 10 outfits. So began the journey.
I googled movie images for inspirations. It was challenging, as I struggled to look for something that are more of a daily wear than formal attire, which will get less air time. Then, I had to measure mself, which, FYI, its hard to do by yourself. My sister in law was very cute. She basically threatened me to tell her what I want, otherwise she will just order things for me.
It was funny when I first opened the package. I was only able to recall ordering one of the outfits. The one shown in pix was what my sister in law ordered for me. Nonetheless, I loved them all. I hoofed to sf chinatown to get some of them altered. And will need to go to an Indian alteration place as well. Am looking forward to wearing my outfits. Maybe to a future dance performance? :)
