Constant vigilance

I review my online statements with a fine-tooth comb. That's how I discovered that I was charged twice for a hotel stay, and once for an itunes purchase I did not make. Sounded fishy to you? Me too.

The first was easier to solve. The second, sounded okay at first. But then I panicked, and took every precaution possible. Thanks to the age of the internet, I was able to do most of them online (fraud alerts, ftc complaint, police report, password changes, billing info deletions, etc.)

Feel a little better now that I did all that within an hour. I guess it pays to be a little suspicious.
