Whenever I used to visit my maternal grandmother, I noted that she was always sitting on the leather sofa right next to the phone. I never realized what it meant until I read her eulogy. My grandmother was waiting to hear from her kids a world a way. While my mother and my second uncle are in the US, my third uncle is in Germany, and my second aunt is in Japan.

I was reminded of that when I saw a pix of my bf's mom wearing her cell-phone on a chain around her neck. Though unspoken, I can hear the loneliness spill forth from her heart, and that desire for the phone to ring.

Please keep your loved ones in your heart, on your mind and in your phone's speed dial. Better yet, keep them in your line of sight.
