The little things

My parents were strict while I was growing up. This meant that I didn't get to do alot of things my peers did at my age. They were insecure, so they wanted me in their sight at all times outside of school.

In other words, I had a crazy curfew, and my friends were all suspicious in their eyes. Consequently, I missed out on alot of things. Though its true that I could have lied to them to get my way, but my extremely guilty conscience would always get in the way.

Thankfully, I was able to have the experience that I wanted to have now, like be on the beach with my friends to watch the sun rise. And it was perfect, despite the fact that we were sleep-deprived. These little things are what made this trip so unforgettable.

I am not blaming my parents for the past. They did the best they could. However, that does not mean that there is nothing I can do to acquire these experiences now. Thankfully, I have a very understanding bf.

In the words of Mark Twain. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
