Kismet

Relationships are interesting... they take at least two for it to work, and kismet for it to happen. Kismet, by the way, is an Hindi word, as I recently learned.

I think back to how I tried to make things work in my awkward years. In high school, there were three of us that were the bestest of friends. But, I was always secretly wondering if the other two were hanging out without me. As it turned out, it didn't really matter anyway. As the three of us are really Facebook friends nowadays.

Then, there are the friends I made in recent years, at a Halloween party of all places. As I partake in activities in their lives (like coloring her baby's onesies), I can't help but digress about where we have been, where we are, and where we will be in the future. And, I am thankful to them for making the friendships work. After all, as the Beatles so rightly crooned, one plus one is two.
