Who Knew

that I was a computer geek, just waiting for the right time and opportunity to reveal myself? I certainly didn't. Here's how the reveal happened.

So our 5 year old computer has been wheezing for the past 2 years. You know, the blue screens, the slow snail speed, you name it. Between our two options of doing a factory restore and buying a new computer, we went with the first option.

Then begin the painful backup process. Although I have to admit, backing up music took the most time. I even took the time to make CD labels. Then, I was ready for the factory restore, with the help of the Dell tech support staff of course. Hey, you didn't think I can do this all by myself, did you?

It took us a little over an hour to do the factory restore. Then, came the really sucky part, restoring all our other applications and files to the computer. That took up most of my Tuesday. However, I am happy to report that the computer is up and running, and no blue screens yet.

We also ordered additional RAM to speed up the processing. Having virus scan software is great, but boy does it suck up your resources. The RAM came highly recommended, and supposedly easy to install. Even a 75 year old man can do it. Will keep you posted on if that's really true or not.

The best part was that I did not have to reprogram the wireless router. That, was a royal pain in the you know what because its instructions were not included in the package. I mean, who does that.

Boy, am I glad that this is off my to do list. So I can spend time doing other things, like reading reference books.
