What I remember the most...

about my trip? Well, a lot. Here are a few highlights and low lights.

Highlights:
  • The food: I was quite surprised that I was not won over by the food this time. Maybe I am just getting pickier with age. Who knows. But the chinese breakfast buns (see pix) were awesome. Not to mention the Goody Goody coffee, grapefruit ice-cream, pig's feet soup, salty rice ball soup, and dark chocolate fondue.

  • My dad's college friends: I really enjoyed spending time with them. Especially since we did other things beside eating... like hiking, picking strawberries, etc. Also, they seem genuinely interested in me as a person. You know what I mean... Its nice to not get the glossy eye looks while talking to people.

  • Formosa/ Japan: I also liked that I explored Taiwan/ Japan and discovered new sights and sounds. You betcha I will be coming back to Kaohsiung, Kobe and Osaka.
Lowlights:
  • Restless nights: I did not expect this to be a problem, but boy was it a nuisance. Sometimes its because of the mosquitoes (Curses to the people for leaving the front door open for too long), sleeping arrangements (I roomed with strangers and my parents) and people's habits (Some of us don't believe in arranging times to meet people when we are meeting people).

  • The rest of the people: Aka, people I don't care for. Like the tour guide who spoke to me in Japanese and refused to tell me what he said although I told him that my Japanese sucked. Or the greedy and selfish relatives. Not to mention the people that treat me like a child.

  • The lack of privacy... and freedom: I didn't really have much of personal space. One time, I was crying to my bf on the phone while there were loads of people around me. Its quite unfortunate that the corded phone was only located in the living room.
So all in all, a trip with many twists and turns... and don't think I will be doing this again.
