I would. No point in holding onto someone that is not mine.
Its possible that he can grow to love you. True, but I can find a better way to spend my time than wishing and hoping.
For me, I rather be with someone that returns my affection as well. After all, falling in love is the easy part. Making the relationship work is the challenging part. Life is hard enough already... No point in gearing up for more battles for I rather conserve my energy.
Not to mention that your relationship blossoms through the years. Even today, we still pleasantly surprise each other.
Mind you, I don't believe that you have one soul mate or great love, and you are screwed for life should you miss each other or it. If you try, you can make it work with almost anyone. However, its a little sweeter that you get to work it out with the object of your desire and vice versa. Not to mention if you both are trying to make it work.
Why the deep thoughts? We just watched two romantic movies. One was about a man giving his love away when he found out that she was in love with another, and the second one was about a dying man pushing his love away. At first, I too thought the movies were a joke. As I got to thinking, however, I realized that they epitomized love at its truest form. After all, if you love someone, you want the best for him, even though you know that you might not be the means to the end.
